About the project
"Catholic Book (1878-1944)" is a scientific platform developed under the project "The Bulgarian Catholic printed book in the system of Bulgarian book publishing (1878-1944)" with number KP-06-M80/1 07.12.2023. It is funded by the Scientific Research Fund (SRF) with a competition for basic research of young scientists and postdoctoral fellows - 2023.
The digital platform provides access to a database of systematized scholarly information to support research on the problems of Catholic literature in Bulgaria from the Liberation to 9 September 1944. Information resources are built on various web-based approaches - geographic information systems (GIS), indexes of authors, publishers and printers, bibliographic reference, and digitized library and archival items on the subject.
As a final result of the research work, the aim is to derive new scholarly information related to the topic of Catholic publishing in our country. Another important result of this project is the completion of the Bulgarian retrospective bibliography with editions that are registered only by bibliographic source at the moment or those that have never been registered and are not present in the bibliographic repertoires of Bulgarian books.
The project is being developed by a team of young scientists, PhD students and students from UniBIT consisting of. Dr. Gabriela Angelova (supervisor), senior asst. Dr. Kamelia Planska, Maria Uzunova (PhD student), Stefanka Miteva (PhD student), Krasimira Taneva (student) and Samuel Petkov (student). As external consultants participate the established scientists Assoc. Dr. Margarita Dobreva (Institute of Balkan Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) and Iskren Stoyanov (IT).
