1. Introduction

The Web site at http://catholic-books.unibit.bg/en/ , hereinafter referred to as "The Catholic Book (1878-1944)," is maintained by the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT). These Terms of Use govern users' use of scholarly products from https://catholicbookprint.unibit.bg/.

"The Catholic Book (1878-1944)

" provides access to a database of systematized scholarly information to support research on issues related to Catholic literature in Bulgaria from the Liberation to September 9, 1944. Information resources are built on a variety of web-based approaches - specialized software that includes a geographic information system (GIS) component and a bibliographic database where books are described.

2. Definitions

In the interpretation and application of these Terms and Conditions, the terms and expressions used shall have the following meanings. USER means any natural person who visits the site and uses its services.

2.5. GIS stands for Geographic Information System, which is an information system for the creation, manipulation, storage, analysis and visualization of geographically referenced (spatial) data.

2.6. Information retrieval systems are a collection of interconnected individual parts designed to search some set of information items (documents, information, etc.) that respond to an information query addressed to the system.

2.7. Bibliometric systems are e-bibliographic resources providing bibliometric information that can be managed through a set of filters.

2.8. The "SERVICE(S)" of the site include:

- access to the information resources/data of the site provided through a web browser

- research on topics and issues related to the Bulgarian Catholic book (1878-1944) according to criteria set by the user;

- the possibility to use and further work with the bibliographic information in the database in MARC 21 and ISBD formats, such as for the purpose of enrichment and optimization of library catalogues, but not only. MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) is an international format allowing the standardization of the fields and structure of bibliographic description through the representation of the description itself by fields. It allows the exchange of bibliographic information and assists libraries in the development, use and management of their own databases. ISBD (International Standard Bibliographic Description) is a single standard that brings together the specificities of bibliographic description of different types of documents and supersedes all other standards. It allows the seamless sharing of bibliographic information, overcoming the language barrier in its use, and facilitating the application of information technology in the exchange of such information.

3. Intellectual property rights

3.1. The intellectual property rights are held by the author of the project proposal, the project team, the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and the Research Fund.

3.2. The User has the right to view, load, store, electronically copy and print physical copies of the materials on this site (including pages, documents, files, photographs) for the User's personal use, research or educational purposes under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license framework.

The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license allows others to share, adapt and distribute the work, provided they credit the author (attribution) and do not use it for commercial purposes. This means that content can be modified and redistributed, but cannot be used for profit or commercial activities. The license imposes no restrictions on the type of adaptations, but prevents recipients of the content from using it for commercial purposes without further permission from the author.

3.3. Data and objects from the e-catalogues of national, academic, regional and community libraries in Bulgaria are used in the website. The University does not claim intellectual property rights to these materials, they are the intellectual property of their owners.

4. Privacy

The University is a data controller registered under the Data Protection Act. In connection with your use of the website services, we process personal data subject to our Privacy Policy, which you can read here. The Policy forms an integral part of the Terms and Conditions.

This data is used for the following purposes:

- Correspondence with users of the product to send alerts about additions and corrections to the information in the DB;

- Database performance reporting.

5. Changes

The University reserves the right at any time, with or without notice, to update content or portions thereof, including to add, change, move or delete information, and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions.
